school tours day 1

so... today was our first day of school tour performances which involved being at the studio by 7:30 and the doing two shows at elementary schools. to be honest, my enjoyment of school tours is limited. they tend to be exhausting and people get to be annoying and the gym changerooms are always too small but there are always golden moments. cute kids can redeem the experience quickly. today our first school went fairly well but our afternoon show was rather disasterful... but somewhat hilarious. the gym we were performing in was extremely small and for some reason Odette decided we would split it lengthwise so that our 'stage' was super long and skinny which made for rather awkward spacing. the show opens with the gumboot piece that we did last year at the christmas show. we hoot and smack our rubber boots... and the piece starts with us running backwards - only 8 steps but i forgot about our comprimised spacing and smacked straight into the wall which was extra funny because there was a big radiator on the floor that I kicked with my boot and it made a huge noise. And then I forgot to go on stage for another part which is done in partners so my partner was standing centre stage all by herself until she decided to just walk off... she came out and was like "where's tiffany?" and I was right there. there was no reason why I shouldn't have been on stage. And then our CD kept skipping and I almost forgot to go out again... And another girl does this piece wearing this big lacey beret thing and it slipped down until it was covering her face entirely and she looked like she was about to be beheaded... and the ming fell and almost broke her arm (which was obviously less funny)... and that's just day one...
