corresponding images (read previous post first, or simultaneously)

here's kyle looking a little crazy after winning the game. they didn't get to keep the trophy but they each got a chance to hold it...and this is caleb and joel at boston pizza. since they didn't get to keep the real trophy, kyle, luke and i stopped at value village and created a little trophy of our own that we don't have to give back (in reality it's a trophy for public speaking, but it's good enough). it can be see in this picture:

and this is a picture of kyle's grandparents. it doesnt have anything to do with my previous post but i added it because i like it. it was kyle's grandpa's birthday today and i couldn't go to the party because i had to work. but Kyle took this picture and said he hopes that this is how is grandparents are always remembered. they're really lovely people who love eachother and love to laugh. i thought that was sweet and i think it's a nice picture. so here it is:
oh. and one more thing. a strange thing happened to me today at work. i closed the store at 6. but when i got in the car it was 7 (i was parked very close). and i thought maybe the clock in my car was wrong or hadn't been turned back for daylight savings time. but when i got home it was 7:20. which means that the clock at work was wrong. which means i accidentaly worked an extra hour for no reason... and no body even came in. i just sat there and wasted time. i had noticed that the clock on the computer was different from the other clock but i didn't really think about it, i just assumed the one on the computer was right. i don't know how i managed to get out on time yesterday... it made me feel very disoriented and confused. and silly. and late for a show i had to be at at 8. so i still haven't had supper. but i did have cupcakes at christie's house after the show... needless to say, it's been a long day. i'm going to go make a midnight snack.

this post makes me feel like a high school girl...

well spring break is finally upon us... or me at least. we even had friday off because there were ballet exams happening at the studio. so on thursday night my lovely 4th year ladies and i had a slumber party and potluck. it was wonderful. we had tons of good food and stayed up late and did face masks and manicures and all the usual girly slumber party things. except that i think our manicurist had a little too much wine before painting nails... and kathleen made an ice cream sundae buffet and we had pancakes in the morning. it was a lot of fun. i'll miss those girls next year.

and i worked yesterday. so i guess my first day off wasn't totally a day off, and neither is today for that matter because i'm at work right now... but at least i can pay for my stupid parking ticket now... although i'd rather spend it on the cute little spring trench coat that sits in front of me and tempts me all day long while i'm at work. sigh...

and the most exciting news of this post comes now. i'll start with a little bit of history. this past summer kyle decided it would be fun to have a monday night soccer night with his friends so they met at the school by his house and played every week and their little group slowly grew. so they decided to play indoor this year to keep up the tradition and they started a futsal team (which is sort of like indoor soccer but a little different). and last night their little team won the championships and now they are champions of futsal. they were very excited. i am not usually a sport watcher but the game was pretty fun to watch last night. it was very fast paced and stressful. i think if i went to too many games i would get an ulcer. it's intense. but they won in the last 90 seconds and i did an involuntary two fisted air punch (i don't think i've ever done that before...) and then we went to boston pizza cuz it seemed like the right place to go after winning a championship... we had team platters.

exciting announcement

well, it's official... after 6 years, 5 months and 17 days....kyle and i are... (the dots are for suspense)... going to get.... (more suspense here... what could it be?)... in the car and drive to saskatoon! we're pretty excited. it'll be a fun little trip. the most exciting part is that i only have 1 day left of dance until spring break. i've been counting down the hours.

today we had a belly dancing class with Shifra - Master of Zills. it was a good time. i got to wear one of those jingly coin hip scarves and shake it. unfortunately, i was not as good at the "boob dancing" apparently i'm not quite well-endowed enough to make it look like i'm doing anything more than wiggling my shoulders. But at least i looked the part in my little scarfy thing... i did quite enjoy shaking my hips and making seductive faces. my favorite one was the 'i'm shy' face where you kind of look out the corner of your eyes and have a hand beside your cheek. it's a good one.

hmm... what else... kyle made me a delicious omelet for dinner last night. and we gave a date to go to Michaels tonight to use our 40% off coupons. yep... kyle and i love craft stores...

sigh

so... i slept through my alarm today. and apparently buying things in the states isn't as cheap as it seems whe you look at individual price tags.... i just looked at my visa bill and faced the ugly facts. they were pretty ugly... especially because i also had to pay tuition for my evening class and i had a sad little turn of events this afternoon... i had to go see an athletic therapist (which i also had to pay for, by the way) because my foot has been unhappy. so my mom picked me up and i had to drop her off at her hair appointment so i could use the car but i had a little bit of time to kill so i stopped by kyle's work to say hello. i was in for probably no more than 2 minutes when someone came and told me i was being ticketed for being in the loading zone. they had tried to tell the guy that i was coming right back and to let it go but he ignored her. and that's how i got a ticket. and i was sad. and it's expensive. and i have no money. dang. they seem to have raised the prices for parking tickets. it used to be that if you paid within two weeks it was $15 but now it's $50 and if you don't pay within 2 weeks it goes up to $100. so that was my sad little turn of events. i spent the rest of the night pouting and drafting the very close fitting trouser block from my aldrich textbook. on the bright side my foot feels a little better.

harry potter and various pilgrammages

i've been delayed in posting recently because i've been re-reading the 5th Harry Potter book and it consumes much of my time. i must say that i'm quite anxiously awaiting the release of the 7th book. i know lindsey understands, she's already contacted me from accross the world a number of times to say how excited she is (speaking of which, i got your card and i love it and it was very exciting to receive in the mail and i feel badly i haven't sent you anything yet... but you just wait... it's coming). and i also must say that her presence will be missed on the dawn of this new era. i've already been invited to an anti-social picnic when the book comes out. from what i understand about this picnic, it will involve outdoor eating and reading and not a whole lot of talking. sounds pretty fun to me. so far it's just christie and her roommate and i. but we still have a couple months to recruit people.

i just got home from an amazing sushi meal with my family at wasabi on broadway. my family is leaving me. they leave on sunday to visit my brother and his wife in los angeles and then my mom is going to toronto and my dad is going to vancouver and my little brother is taking off on his own to thailand for 3 months which will obviously be an amazing adventure for him... and i'm staying here... maybe i'll plan a little road trip... to saskatoon or something...

speaking of road trips, christie and i just returned from a birthday pilgramage to wet seal. we had a rather great time, although lindsey was missed yet again. we left on friday after dance and got back late saturday night/sunday morning. we spent more money than we intended, and more time at wet seal than we ever would have imagined. and the other usuals - krispy kreme, target, rising bread co., continental breakfast... (the continental breakfast had a waffle iron... ingenious). Christie brought her camera but the battery was dead so we only took two pictures and I have yet to get them from her... but I will email her now and post them later... look forward to seeing our sweet 2 for $8 sunglasses... they're worth looking forward to...

titles are hard to make up

well... here are the pictures of my starching project. the flowers are made of hand felted wool, each one starched using a different technique. the vase is made out of a lightweight jersey fabric starched with epsom salts which is why it's all white and cakey looking. epsom salts are much more useful in the bath tub. i do not recommend using them for starching...

Next we have a brief update of my weekend. Friday was our final school tour show. We all went out for lunch at Deluca's (who, as it happens, gave us very poor service. we were told that they didn't have enough chairs for us so we were going to have to make do with 2 chairs for 3 people. I don't quite understand how they got away with this as we were all paying regular price for our meals. Plus they made us line up separately and wait longer. Plus they didn't bring us water and then got mad at us for getting it ourselves and told us we weren't allowed to drink out of their expensive glasses and the lady called me sweet heart in a very condescending tone... PLUS they kept trying to get us to share our 2 chairs with other customers who came in and they acted all annoyed when we couldn't seem to squish more people in... anyways, this was meant to be a side note, I got a little carried away.)

After lunch we had the afternoon off and after wandering the exchange for a while I went home to have a nap. and i woke up extremely grumpy just in time to go to a youth event. but I seem to have found a bit of a cure for grumpyness. It's called wearing something that makes everyone laugh at you. And this is what it looks like:

We went tobogganing... toboganning?... and... it was fun. (by the way, that was a picture of me wearing my big suit. It's made of denim and is enormous. It used to belong to kyle's uncle who is much larger than me. I like it because it's warm and it keeps snow from getting in my pants as it's all one piece and, obviously, it's stylish - notice the stirrup hanging out of my leg...) Some people rode down the hill on a couch on saucers. One little junior high kid came up to Kyle and asked him if he would take a picture of him and his friend pretending to drink hot chocolate while going down the hill. He was very cute. See if you can pick him out. Here is also a picture of Kyle and I while going down the hill, in which Kyle looks like a hungry camel, and another one of me looking kind of creepy in my big suit (it looks like my eyes are going in different directions). And that's all for now. Stay tuned for more exciting posts, such as: craft night at my house and i'm almost finished knitting a sweater (well, i was finished but the neck was too tight... anyways, a story for another day)
