old news

As most of you have perhaps already read in Lindsey's blog, we spent this past weekend at my cottage. It was a belated New Years/Lindsey's birthday celebration and we spent our time watching tv shows and movies, playing our own little version of dutch blitz(ed) and eating an abnormal amount of cream cheese.
A good (goot?) time was had by all...

a decision finally made!!

So... After weeks of searching and deliberation, Kyle and I are now the proud owners of a funny little table and chair set. I quite like our little set and it matches our happy little 70s style apartment beautifully. The table is from a random wearhouse store on Princess which is filled with junk. But it was in brand new condition and a lovely and sturdy arborite for only $50. The chairs we got from Hoopers and about 40 or 50 years prior to that they came from Norway.

We christened it last night by having our good friends Nils and Melissa over for dinner. We had pasta with brussels sprouts and pine nuts (p.s. mom - I love my little birdie lemon squeezer. Things that are functional and cute are my favourite. This one doesn't even squirt when squeezed.) and then we had tea with funny tasting chocolate that I brought home from Austria. It was supposed to be 'milk chocolate with carrot rasps' but we weren't overly impressed - except for Nils who loudly claimed that he loved it and it was his favourite and that it had a cleanly taste...

Here are some photos of our new friends:

I think it looks especially nice with our love doves, which Kyle's grandma made for us (she made them for each of her grandchildren to be given on the occasion of their engagement) I think they're lovely.

Now that we've finally decided on a table and chairs, our deliberation efforts have been transferred to the issue of a vacuum... handheld versus upright? cheap versus quality? consumer's report reviews versus owner's reviews? dyson versus electrolux? sigh... the decisions never end...

two months later...

well. it'll probably take people a while to check this, seeing as it's been two months and most of you have probably given up on me. There are probably too many things to update you on so maybe I'll start with the most recent event and depending on how ambitious I am, maybe I'll post backwards from that. But at least this is a start.
sooo...
Kyle and I just got back from our honeymoon on Saturday. We went to Varadero, Cuba and it was lovely. We managed to get there the day their biggest cold front in 30 years ended and we had beautiful weather the whole time. After the months of planning and rushing and chaos it was so nice to just lay on a beach and read a book and drink pina coladas.

ooh. another bonus of married life is that now I can post pictures on my blog so here are some from Cuba:

this is a picture of the view from our balcony. we had the nicest balcony there because we were newly weds. The ocean doesn't look as blue in the picture as it actually was because it was nighttime when kyle took this one.

playing in the ocean (Kyle didn't want me to put that picture of him in because he thinks he looks silly... which is, of course, exactly why i like it...)

this is of snorkeling. (kind of hard to see the fishies in the underwater one... we only had alittle waterproof bag for our camera so they aren't super clear. but the fishies came to eat the ham sandwich that the sailor man threw to them)

we went on a tour one day and went on a sailboat and snorkeling and to an island for lunch and then swimming with dolphins. it was pretty fun. I have more but that's a good starting point. Plus I can't remember how to find the pictures... Kyle showed me the other day but I've forgotten...
In any case, it's nice to be back in the world of the blog. and I think i've got lots of catching up to do. it's been an eventful couple of months and now i have more or less nothing to do so I have time to relive the past with you... stay tuned...
